The paper studies the key technologies and practical application of configuration software. In industrial measurement and control system, the equipment is becoming large, automatic, high-speed and complex. The design, fault diagnosis, update and improvement of system are becoming more sophisticated. Monitor software is the kernel part of measurement and control system, its function is more overall and complex. The augmentability and cost-effectiveness ratio (CER) are emphasized when designing and upgrading monitored control system. The old control software which are developed from bottom layer is becoming difficult in maintenance, improving and replacement. It is inevitable to use configuration software to accomplish system monitor and control. But current configuration software is not perfect in system structure and methods of data exchange with other software. Therefor, the research on its structure and critical technologies has theoretical significance and vital use value.Researches are made on critical technologies of the configuration software including the constitution, real-time data base and methods of data exchange with other software. The structural frame and design are discussed. This paper listed the mode of data exchange (DDE, OPC and ODBC) and applied methods of each criterion which are very significant in improving the ability of data exchange and flexibility and operability of software. Based on specific project, author designed and assembled the "Measuring & controlling system of process units of clean fuel oil" , designed corresponding control scheme, and used Matlab to emulate the control algorithm. Used ForceControl configuration software to develop the whole system monitor program including manipulation, control, display and data management. Based ForceControl configuration software, Excel and Matlab, author designed a emulation software about auto-tune PID controller using DDE data exchange, which settles practical problem in using configuration software.
