This paper has analyzed MPEG4 technique, and has made research on video/audio real-time transmission based on object-oriented thought, including coding, synchronizatio-n interactive mechanism,and transmission with emphasis on the part of systems(ISO/IEC 14496-1) and part of network transmission (ISO/IEC 14496-6). The Interactive Soccer Client/Server System Based on MPEG-4 has been designed on this basis, which includes analysis and design of Object Descriptor,Scene Descriptor,Stream Manager and MP4 file .The filters running based on object contents and Scene Editor have been Implemented.On the aspect of streaming transmission,the designed system refered MPEG-4 over IP specification and use standard MPEG-4 file format as the streaming source.In Session-layer protocol implementation,RTSP(Real time streaming protocol)and SDP (Session descript protocol) have been designed and implemented.In Transport-layer protocol,RTP(Real-time transport protocal)and RTCP(RTP control protocol)for Streaming MPEG-4 files based on UDP have been designed and implemented to realize the streaming transmission channel.On the aspect of RTP packet and mulitimedia flow synchronization, the Interactive Soccer System use RFC3640 as packing standards.The designed streaming server can meet the need of "MPEG-4 over ip Specification"and has realized the funcations of synchronization layer.Based on MPEG-4 object-orientied coding, the Interactive Soccer Client/Server System applies the different coding methods for different objects and implements operations and edting for different objects, which features the system with interactivity and flexiblity. The application of MPEG-4 in interactive football broadcast allows the higher degree of freedom and stronger sense of participation.
