Design And Implementation Of Performance Management (PM) Sub-system In Integrated Network Management System (INMS)

Integrated Network Management System (INMS) is a tool and means for China Unicom developed by Motorola to implement network management. PM is the performance management module, The purposes of PM module are as followed: monitoring the performance of the network; gathering related performance statistics; remarking the validity of network and network element; reporting the state of the telecommunication equipment; supporting the network planning and network analysis.This paper consists of the following four sections.Firstly, the paper introduces the basis knowledge of network management, including the purposes, functions and objects of network management, and presents some domestic and overseas applications of network management.Secondly, we introduce the principle of telecommunication management network (TMN); explain the basis concept, function architecture, management layer and its application. Then introduce some new pattern network management model briefly.Thirdly, expatiates Integrated Network Management System (INMS) and China Unicom network management system, describe the system features, function sub-system, system function and so on. INMS consists of four modules: common function, configuration management, fault management and performance management.Finally, explain the design and implementation of PM module in detail. The module can be divided into 6 sub-systems: data collection, raw date preprocess, data load, store process, common management and BO presentation. And then according to problems met in practical application, make a proposal for future development on INMS.
