Research Of ECDIS/ARPA Information Overlay Technology

This paper is based on the navigation state observation equipments of a certain type of integrated submarine- aiding lifeboat. It mainly deals with the key techniques of overlay display of navigational state observing equipments' electronic chart with both radar digital batched objects information and radar video image information. The main tasks of the paper include:Firstly, it studies and establishes an implementing project of overlay display of the ECDIS and the radar digital batched objects information. It mainly introduces the design of the software of whole radar digital batched objects information overlay displaying system, describes its process in detail. Moreover, it presents basic functions and flow of every part of the system respectively, and analyses the relations of transfer and management of tasks. Finally, overlay displaying the radar digital batched objects on electronic chart is realized.Then, it designs a system of radar simulator according to the basic functions of radar. In this part, it builds models of ships and islands, and solves the problem of range waving by using the first group of Swelling Model. In addition, it analyses the system of radar simulator and proposes a designing project and solutions. Based on the designing project, it completes functional modules of the radar simulator system, which produces the radar echo video signals conforming to those of the practical navigation radar. The completed radar simulator basically satisfies the application of overlaying radar video image.In the end, the idea of designing the whole video image overlay displaying system and the process of completing it are presented. It generally consists of three sections: collecting radar video images, processing them and overlaying them. On the basic of radar simulator which is mentioned above, it employs radar video collecting card, studying the characters of it to realize collecting radar video images in real time. To process those collected video images, it applies some methods, such as geometric transformation of the images and coordinate conversion between the ECDIS and the radar system. The existing developed image processing technique ensures the precision of the overlay display.
