Design And Implementation Of Web-Based Manager In Embedded Network Management

With the rapid development of computer technology, Many new computer concepts has occurred, such as Embedded system, Pervasive Computing, Grid Computing and so on. Among those new computer concepts, the Embedded system has found a wide application in many industrial fields. And this leaded to the traditional personal-computer central pattern of computer transferred into the embedded-device central pattern. At the same time, the traditional network management model is transferring into the next generation network management (NGNM) model. Therefore, there is a great need in the development of network management technology, which will satisfy the management requirement of embedded-device and next generation network management model.Nowadays, Embedding web-based SNMP Manager into embedded devices is a hotspot of network management study, which can manage, control and configures them. This kind of web-based management method based on HTTP protocol provided a use-friendly and simple user interface to manage network devices. Meanwhile, this method expands the scope of user access and make it possible to manage remote crossover network devices which is suit for the developing trend of more distributed and more complicated of next generation network. Therefore, Researching and developing embedded web-based network management software has great significance. With the development of the NGNM model, the network management technology based on XML becomes more mature. The web-based Embedded network management will be a good reseach point because that the XML technology can be well combined with web-based management model,and it can supply abundant information of SNMP Agent in XML ,and those information can be transmitted and displayed easily crossover nerworks in HTTP packets.In this paper, we present the architecture of emdeded network managemnt based on SNMP Agent and web mode. It will enforce the abundant functions of network management in SNMP mode and expand the application scope of embedded-device in limited resource. Then we also draw a conclusition of critical research technology anddevelopming policy to gain some valueable experience, and cast some new light on the implemention of SNMP in embedded network management.
