People's activities are inseparable from a certain physical space, therefore Spatial Usability could not only determine the communication between people and their surroundings, but also influence the efficiency of people's activities. Spatial Usability refers to whether people will meet difficulties during the course of exchanging information from the environment. People will feel more satisfied if Spatial Usability becomes better, whereas people will get frustrated. As a result, how to improve Spatial Usability has become more and more important, and people begin to pay more attention to the relevant research work. To improve Spatial Usability, firstly, people should find out the existed usability problems. One of the most effective methods is to know about people's behavior pattern when they interact with the environment. By this way, experts could improve the Spatial Usability. With the development of the man-made environment, people's behavior has become more and more complicated, along with the appearance of various usability problems. Consequently, the author did some research work on Spatial Usability, using virtual reality technology, and outspreaded some trial analyses on the applied cases. The author made use of the modeling tools to construct a prototype as the laboratorial environment, and people could take part in the investigation as a user in the prototype to identify the problems they meet. People could not only "walk" in the prototype but also do some help in this research work. Meanwhile, the author tested the feasibility and the effect of this researching method. The result of this study shows that: by using virtual reality technology, people could not only find out the usability problems in the real world, but also dig out these problems in an unbuilt space. Besides, it's proved that by using this technology, experts could save a large amount of researching cost and time. Therefore, virtual reality technology is an effective way of solving Spatial Usability problems.
