A Research On UML-Based PDM System In Survey & Design Institute

Product Data Management (PDM) is one of fastest growing technology in theengineering-manufacturing market that integrates and manages all the information relatingto product data based on the information technology and centered on product, with someform of technology and being implemented in a range of industries including automotive,aerospace, electronics and so on, and nowadays it becomes an indispensable tool forenterprise information management.In the first place, the PDM theory system was introduced and reviewed in-depth, includingits current application situation and outstanding effect. Following that, the requirement ofdata management on PDM system application in survey & design industry was analyzedfrom perspective of both its management objects and method. It demands to expand PDMinto the survey and design industry as an extensible application.The Unified Modeling Language (UML), one advancing technique of Object-OrientedMethodology for system analysis and design was utilized to model the objects of projectmanagement, document management and the workflow management as well. Thearchitecture on a basis of B/S structure and data models for PDM system for surveyinstitute was also represented in this thesis. Several critical technique issues such as thedistributed file server, user-privilege, and coding technique were mentionedcomplementarily.This thesis advises particularly that PDM system in survey & design industry is anintegrated application system that cored on project information management, incorporatingthe design and management rather than any one separate unit management system.
