Research And Implementation Of Process Collaboration In The Workflow Management System

With the rapid extension of Internet and Intranet, some kinds of software systems have been greatly evolved, especially the Workflow Management System(WFMS).The main intention of WFMS is the automation of procedures where document, information or tasks are passed between participants according to a predefined set of rules to achieve an overall business goal. Depending on its powerful ability in controlling complex business process, the WFMS plays a critical role in enterprise information development.With the rapid development of enterprises, the issues that how to implement the business process automation demands that the different workflows in the enterprises should collaborate accurately and rapidly. Especially considering the existing huge software investment of enterprises, how to reuse the existing process resources and avoid the Process Isolated Island, is a new important question in the workflow research realm.Although the theory of workflow collaboration handle is relatively consummate, there is few killer application implementing it. The ability of workflow collaboration handle in the standard WFMS is limited, which restricted the application of the workflow technology. According to the special background in printing enterprises, this thesis addresses the issues in workflow management system, process collaboration .The thesis firstly points out the signification and the essentiality of implementing process collaboration in this project, then analyzes the contents of process collaboration in WFMS and O-O thought , breaks the process collaboration into activity inner process and collaboration model ,and gives the model of process collaboration supported by the workflow management system of this project according to the requirement. then analyzes the process collaboration rules of the model, solves the problems of time constraint, business constraint during the process collaboration.The thesis then discusses the details of the design and implementation of the process engine, which supported the workflow model below. In conclusion the thesis gives an example to explain how process collaboration act on the processes and validate the modeling method and the realization scheme in this project.The research on process collaboration improves the flexibility, correctness and applicability of WFMS . It also accelerates the development of workflow technology and satisfies the requirements of enterprises.
