Research Of Project Management System Oriented To CMM Based Process Improvement

The CMM is one of the main models for improving organization software process, and the project management holds a very important position during implementing CMM. The effective software project management is the essential need for raising software process capability of software organization, and the key to improve the software product quality and the production efficiency. Its meaning still lies in accumulating the organizational process assets and condensing the developer's personal development ability into the organization process capability. A large number of project basic data will be involved when developing following CMM key practices, and the efforts of project management activity might increase greatly. If without automatic project management system, the software develop efficiency will be influenced and the management cost will be increased; on the other hand, it is difficult to guarantee the consistency of the basic data used in all kinds of project management activity, so automatic project management tool is very important when implementing CMM model. Aiming at above problems, this thesis brings forward some viewpoints and opinions about how to standardize software process and heighten software capability of enterprises, and designs a project management system oriented to process improvement based on CMM. Via studying and researching Software Capability Maturity Model and based on the actual development process within the medium and small software enterprises, this thesis designs project planning module, requirements management module, project management module, project tracking module and so on, which tracing and controlling the rate of progress, quality, change of process, recording the measurement value in every phases and aspects. A organization level Software Process Assets Library is introduced used to guide software process planning, tailoring, maintaining and implementing according to the actual project condition and the CMM principles. Two modules of software project planning and requirement management are developed which facilitating the data collecting, status report writing. Finally, the architecture and scheme are introduced based on the Web environment and oriented to CMM model.
