With the arrival of knowledge society, knowledge is increasingly becoming the most important resource. Knowledge management becomes the important subject in each field of society. The management of tacit knowledge is a very important content in library knowledge management. At present , the research on the management of tacit knowledge in library have already had certain achievements, People have carried on some discussion from different respects, but generally speaking, There are very few articles to study it deeply and systematically. To study the tacit knowledge management in library deeply, this dissertation has launched research from five respects.First part: It is a summary about tacit knowledge. In order to study the tacit knowledge in library, It is necessary to understand tacit knowledge deeper and better. From its definition, characteristic, performance, source , essence , the relation of tacit knowledge and explicit knowledge ,tacit knowledge and its relative concepts, the author discusses tacit knowledge.Second part: It is a summary of the tacit knowledge in library. The author has probed into the definition, characteristic, function and actual performance in the practical work of the tacit knowledge in library thoroughly . The tacit knowledge in library includes experience, skill in the professional technological work of librarians, experience, skill of librarians while they serve their readers, experience ,skill of the librarians in the course of consulting for their readers, experience , skill of the librarians while they arrange the ancient books and every group personnel's tacit understanding at work in department and library culture.The third part: It is about the management of tacit knowledge in library. The article divided into four small parts to carry on the research .First ,the author discusses the discovery , differentiation and excavating of the tacit knowledge in library; Second, the author discusses the accumulation , protecting of the tacit knowledge in library; Third, the author discusses the transformation , transmission and exchange of the tacit knowledge in library; Fourth, the author discusses the development, use and innovation of the tacit knowledge in library. The author has also puts forward some methods and ways to every respect of tacit knowledge management in library.The fourth part: It is about the obstacles of the management of tacit knowledge inlibrary and some measures should be taken accordingly. The author thinks the main measure is to make library become a studying organization, to structure knowledge sharing platform, to build knowledge leading culture and to set up effective incentive mechanism.The fifth part :That is the last part of the article. The author attempts to appraise the tacit knowledge capability of librarians and library as a whole ,to propose an evaluation index and a kind of method for appraising .The author also points out the problems that will be encountered in the course of appraising and should pay attention to analyze the appraising result.
