Study On The Current Situation Of Web OPAC In Main National Libraries In The World

The National Library of China is a comprehensive research library, a national repository of domestic publications, a national bibliographic center, a national center of library information networks, and the library research and development center. National Library of China plays a critical role in China library development.Web OPAC is the important component of library integrated system, directly serving library users, its facilitation and effectiveness are important factors determining quality of library reader service and collected information utilization. By using of the Web OPAC, the library can more objectively obtain the covariance data on how readers utilizing collected information data, such as visiting peak time, visitor's regional information (nation, region), Web OPAC of the visitant circulates the classification of the frequency, reader information statistics the etc. Through analysis, processing and refinement, these data is able to provide library management with reliable, dependable and continuous information to better adjust and improve library business, so as to provide better services to readers, to lay out more proper circulation policy, to establish a more appropriate book collection structure, to set up a better news collection system.This research paper is to address the current problems in the library calculator gathers management system inside Web OPAC and its in customer service esse. While choosing research topic, I made sure to consider the top 15 nations in terms of national power, and select the nations in each continents, and disregard those libraries that don't have Web OPAC systems and that were not built independently by themselves. At the end, in light of the data collected from China national Web OPAC, offer suggestions to improve China Web OPAC system.The objectives of this research are: through horizontal analytic comparison, to find out the best practices of all countries national library Web OPAC system, to improveChina national library Web OPAC system and to better utilize library resource and better serve Chinese readers.The important points in doing research on Web OPAC system are to urge library to increase the service quality, to expand service offerings, to enhance the utilization rate of collected information, as the result, to reflect the value and function of a existing library.
