Research And Development Of Content Management System For National Agricultural Library Service Platform

The content management system for National Agricultural Library Service Platform (CMS-NAIS) was a supplement to National Agricultural Information System (http://www.nais.net.cn, NAIS). Based on existing functions of NAIS, the function was enhanced and extended in access control of foreground users, and management and flexible issuance of digital resources. The aim of CMS-NAIS was to make full use of the abundant literature information resources of National Agricultural Library, so that NAIS could provide persistent and high-quality information service for agricultural workers.This paper introduced the content management system concepts and typical applications, and on the basis of analyzing characteristics of typical content management system architecture model and agricultural digital library service platforms, brought foreword the integrated model of content management system for agricultural digital library service platforms and the implementation framework of CMS-NAIS as grounds for the following research and development. According to system design objectives of CMS-NAIS, this thesis marked out the system overall function framework, defined the scope of concrete work, and then did a detailed analysis and design to the core modules with the UML modeling tool. CMS-NAIS adopted the three-tier Browser/Services (B/S) framework upon Microsoft .NET technique system with implementation of jurisdiction management, heterogeneous data source integration, and on-line database management. The paper described the specific implementation process, did elementary system testing, and offered some of the system operation screenshots.The paper ended up with a summary of the theories and technologies related to research and development of CMS-NAIS, as well as the specific development and design work. Finally, a brief discussion was made on several aspects of research on construction of agricultural digital library service platform, such as Library 2.0, information visualization and mobile equipment support.
