The Temperature Monitoring and Analyzing System for Underground CableJunctions is very important to ensure the security of underground cable and wellavoid fires which are caused by the high temperature emanated by cables. Now,there are many methods to monitor the temperature, which, however, still have manyproblems such as flimsy equipments, difficulty of setting and maintenance, highcost of application and so on. The key to solve these problems is the design of theterminal unit. In this thesis low-power sensors and low-cost wireless equipments areintegrated to create the unit. Its center is a low-power and high-capabilitymicrocontroller MSP430.The unit that is dormant mostly is fixed around the underground cable. By the way ofwaking up periodically, it acquires and stores the temperature and date data. When the patrolunit sends out the command of getting data, the terminal unit responds it by transmiting thestored data in wireless way, and after that, it comes back to the formerly state and stores datarenewedly. The unit possesses characteristics of low-cost, easy setting and good adaptabilityand so on. With the supply of single 3v battery, it can work for more than 4.5 years and storetemperature and date data of as long as one year and a half, which well support the analysisand forecast of cable junctions' state to avoid accidents.
