This thesis describes the design of a wireless distributed temperature monitor system composed of a supervisory computer, a wireless hub, and a number of wireless temperature sensors, with a high frequency radio channel as the linkage of data communication between the hub and the sensors. This system is more flexible and economic than those line-linked systems and may be used in supervising granary temperature and preventing grain from rotten. The wireless temperature sensors are the front-end nodes of a wireless network and are of an embedded design based on microcontroller MSP430 and with a wireless transceiver nRF905 to perform wireless data link. The requirement of low power consumption is fully considered across the whole design to last the lifecycle of battery. The wireless hub is indeed a host controller that organizes the data transmission of each front-end node, collects all the temperature data and transfers them to the supervisory computer via serial data link.Delphi7.0 is used to design the software of supervisory PC to produce user interface, alarm, historical curve, data archive, and printing etc.Work has been done on devices selection, circuit design, software programming, and system integration during the thesis preparation. The design, as well as the acquired concepts and experience may be referenced when developing similar projects.
