The automatic monitor system of water level and rainfall realized the long-distance transmission of hydrology data and status monitoring of the whole system. The system used the embedded processing technology, the wireless communication technology and computer technology. In this system, the monitors transmit the water level and rainfall data to the computer in central station through the wireless communication technology. The central station receives the data of every hydrologic station and after analysis to make the correct decision, thus provides the scientific basis and the technical support for the country water conservancy department to understand the water resources situation and for the flood prevention, disaster reduction and the water resources construction. This paper will make details in the following several aspects:The paper first introduced the basic knowledge of the embedded system and the whole constitution of the automatic monitor system. It included the present developping situation and tendency about embedded system, the characteristics of the microprocessor based on ARM construction, the design goal and developping situation of the automatic monitor system in domestic and foreign.Next, the paper related the software and hardware realization process of the water level and rainfall automatic monitor system in details. In hardware aspect, it introduced the design of power system, the concrete realization of real-time clock, data storage and LCD display, and the GPRS technology application in data transmission process.The GPRS technology application is the key point of the system design. So have maken a particular introduction surrounding the realization process of the GPRS communication link in the software design part.Then, the paper introduced specifically the network architecture in central station, the NAPT technology. And then, the paper thoroughly discussed the realization method of the management software in central station. It relates to the database design, the geography information processing module, the central station communication module, the data query and analysis module. Moreover, the article also discussed the application about the database visit technology, Winsock programming technology and so on.Finally, the paper has maken a summary and a prospect to the whole monitor system. It indicated that the automatic monitor system of water level and rainfall is not only an intellectualized system which has the advanced data transmission method,but also provided a general and ideal information gathering and processing model, to other monitor systems.
