Design And Implementation Of Embedd Ed Wireless Communication System Based On PDA

PDA (Personal Digital Assistant) is a kind of portable electronical product with prospective future. And meanwhile, wireless network is becoming a hotspot in embedded system, PDA with wireless function can be used in some specific fields, including military affairs, police action, medical application and so on. So, the design of PDA, which is provided with several wireless communication functoin, makes great significance. In this paper, we have designed a wireless PDA system based on ARM processor and Linux embedded system framework, which has the characteristics of multi-function, flexibility, cost-effective and easy to be expanded. This paper includes the design of hardware, translating of operating system and application's realization.Firstly, this paper has made a design for PDA hardware system based on Samsung S3C2440A processor, including CPU S3C2440A, memory system, debug system and man-machine interface. In addition, this paper chooses embedded linux as an operating system which has the characteristics of stability, easy-customed, and free to obtain. Qt/Embedded is adopted as a GUI (graphics user interface). Finally, based on PDA basic system, four kinds of wireless communication means are realized: GPRS, GPS, Wifi and micropower RF wireless data transmission, which not only provide the function of traditional dialing, message and Internet connection, but also satellite positioning and short distance wireless communication. Many applications can be developed on this PDA system, such as wireless data acquisition system, mobile vehicles monitoring and positioning system, the long distance maintenance and information inquiry system.
