Research On Architecture And Performance Of Military PCS

In this paper, we study a kind of Personal Communication Services (PCS) system combining with the 3rd generation communication system which can be applied for military use. We bring forward a scheme integrating the grid topology of field regional communication network, the flood routing method, and the network devices of the 3rd generation communication system. The scheme can satisfy the survivability demand of military communication, and has the roaming and handover function in mobile communication. We present several performance measures, develop a network simulation model and complete a simulation software using OPNET Modeler. The software simulates the actual operation of the network and gets many outputs, and then we obtain the performance measures. Finally, based on the simulation results of an experimental network, we present a detailed comparison of the routing schemes. Some useful conclusions obtained can be used in the network decision-making process.
