The Study On Evaluation Systems Of Selecting Foreign Print Journal In Academic Library

Journal, as a kind type of documents, is important for experts and scholars because of its novel content, swift publishing and abundant information. Especial foreign journal is unable to replace for reflecting the front development trends and the newest scientific findings of every discipline, and plays an important support role for teaching and scientific research of academic research universities.For recent years, the cost and the expenditures of journals' rapid increase, add increased quantities of journals for new discipline and cross-discipline' emergence and development, academic research libraries face the problem that the funds increasing degree can't keep pace with expenditures' increasing of journals; furthermore, the rapid development of electronic journal have caused the enormous impact for traditional print journals. For the above reasons, academic research libraries have to cut down numerous print journals. Then, in this case, how to evaluate the foreign print journals becomes a subject that is worth studying.This text analyses the domestic and foreign experts' studies about evaluating journals, and uses the foreign practical experience on acquiring journals. Based on above knowledge, this text analyses the factors of influencing journals acquisition, and studies comprehensive evaluation methods and relevant problems. According to this, a practical integrative evaluation system of foreign journals acquisition should been constructed, with guidance and support of system info. To sum up, main achievements have been gained as follows:Firstly, it sets up a general evaluation index system using questionnaire research methods; it filter the primary indexes utilizing the method of Delphi, and sets up the model of evaluation index system of foreign print journals based on the analysis of statistic characteristics of experts' opinions;Secondly, it analyses the confidence and validity of questionnaire under the guidance of SPSS software; and establishes the weights of indexes through Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP);Finally, using this model based on foreign journal acquisition in mechanics of our library, this paper proves and improves the conclusion of this study.
