In the knowledge economy age, universities regarded as a 'knowledge factory' need to strengthen knowledge management to rise the efficiency of knowledge management. The research has been only done within aspect of theoretics and practice in enterprises all over the world. As related to universities, it has been studied in recent years. At present, people in universities don't realize the importance of knowledge management. There are many disadvantages in knowledge sharing, management technique and knowledge preserving. Moreover, because of the various subjects and complicated knowledge system in the universities, we could not imitate the principles and methods which used in enterprises.Aiming to solve these problems mentioned above, this thesis presents a flexible personal knowledge management system with B/S structure. The primary research work is as follows:(1) A tubular organizational structure is built in the platform, which could encourage members to share and manage their knowledge.(2) Knowledge is classified according to the projects, so members can define different classes by themselves in different projects.(3) A tree-like knowledge memory structure is designed, which makes the knowledge stored in database in binary flow possible.(4) The full-text search is implemented in knowledge, which stored as txt, PDF, word, html etc document types.(5) Communication tools including videoconference, urgent message, chat room and forumis designed and implemented, which encourage communication between members.(6) In the course of developing the system, the architecture of MVC (model-view-controller) is used, which makes the business logic view and the user view separated. It makes the implementation and maintenance of system become easier.
