With the deep-going exploitation of enterprise informationalization, information sharing between enterprises within and among become more frequent. Different enterprises have great differences in the information level and construction ways causes many difficulties in data exchange between information systems. How to exchange data efficiently between information systems is a key problem must be solved in the implementation of enterprise informationalization.Starting from the problems in data exchange, this paper analyses some main techniques used in data exchange. Based on the JMS and XML, a new data exchange model is proposed. This Model can not only implement data conversion between heterogeneous data sources by using XML as middle data format but also complete the interaction and data transmission between application systems by utilizing the asynchronous message processing mechanism in JMS. Then this paper expounds the design and realization of three main parts in the model. These three parts are Data Access and parsing component, XML message service component and data exchange tool. With the development of the two main components of the model, we solve two important problems: one is data conversion between XML documents and heterogeneous data sources that include relational databases, excel files and tables in word files. The other is JMS-based message transmission between distributed application systems. At last, samples are given to demonstrate the model's application. This paper also brings forward the improvement works on the model from the practical and perfect direction.
