Currently the bar codes are the main management method in the traditional automobile production monitoring. However, with the fierce competition in the automobile manufacturing industry, the bar code technology cannot fully meet the business requirements of the production process monitoring. Radio frequency identification (RFID) is the main technology in the automatic identification field, and its non-contact and information storage performance can meet the monitoring needs of the production process of auto manufacturers. The purpose of this thesis is to study the RFID application in auto production monitoring.Based on the research history RFID technology and RFID application in the world, the content has been put forward. On the foundation of analysis of status in automobile production monitoring and its needs of RFID applications, the RFID-based automotive vehicle production monitoring system has been put forward. The RFID-based information collection and processing and RFID equipment selection are emphasized.Firstly, with the research of various aspects of automobile manufacturing, this study draws that the body shop, paint shop and assembly shop are suit for RFID. Reduce the costs through the closed-loop applications and choose the RFID data collection points. Then analyze the contents of tags and the information collection process. As to the information processing, based on analysis of RFID data features and commonly means of communication, the RFID-based means of communication is designed.As to the choice of the RFID hardware, based on the vehicle production environment, analyze the conditions required by the RFID equipment, which are identification environment, identification rate and identification range. Then choose the UHF RFID hardware, which meets automotive manufacturing environment. The selection standard is also put forward. In order to ensure normal operation, the selected equipment needs to be stetted. Then analyze the RFID hardware setting and arrange network.Some research findings of this paper have been applied in an automotive manufacturer, which obtained good results.
