Compared with literary narratology, news narratology is a special form of narration which has objectivity and authenticity. However, is there any tendency of self-awareness and biased narration in news narratology? Especially, in the process of international communication, does the narrator hold certain emotion and tendency when he who represents his own country narrates things happened in another country? This is the purpose of this research. At present, the study of news narratology of our country mainly focuses on narrative structure, narrative perspective, and narrative subjectivity. This paper will make a further study on the cultural context that is reflected by the news narration. As the biggest party newspaper of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, People's Daily has great influence and authority in the whole nation medium. What's more, compared with other newspapers, its objectivity is also generally acknowledged. Since Indonesia repels China most in the world, is there any self tendency in the report and narration of news of Indonesia in People's Daily? This paper applies quantitative and qualitative analysis to make a detailed study on reports of Indonesia in People's Daily from 1984 to 2004. It analyzes the otherness narration of People's Daily and then draws a conclusion that news narration has the same self tendency as literary narration and constantly reflects self cultural identity and features and the self ideology by constructing the image of the other.
