The aging of the population has become a common concern of the international community. The social problems caused by the aging of the population have become increasingly prominent. The phenomenon of “marginalization” and “stigma” of the media for the old has occurred from time to time, and the mass media has been guiding public opinion and has the function of spreading the information. The coverage of the mass media also affects the audience's understanding of the elderly.Dahe Daily is an urban daily newspaper with a large influence and wide radiation range in Henan.Based on the theory of news narratology, this paper uses content analysis and text analysis to study 477 aged reportings from Dahe Daily from January 1,2016 to December 31,2018.In the first chapter of the thesis, the analysis on the narrator of the "Dahe Daily" old-age report,"Who is talking," found that the reporter was mainly the narrator of the "Dahe Daily" old-age report, and the elderly as the narrator accounted for a relatively low proportion.Although the choice of direct quotation makes "facts speak",there are fewer references to the discourse of the elderly, and the elderly are in a state of "loss of voice".In the second chapter of the thesis, the narrative content is “what to say”.In the analysis of the content, the article classifies and analysis the time distribution, source, news genre, report theme and report form of the old report of Dahe Daily. The article also makes analysis on the commercialization tendency in the report of the old,the core value of the "Dahe Daily" the aged reporting is to promote the positive energy of the elderly, but there is still insufficient in showing positive image of the elderly and in attention to the inner appeal of the elderly. In the third chapter of the thesis,it is the narrative strategy, that is to discuss "how to say",the study found that the "Dahe Daily" aged reporting mainly adopted the strategy of non-eventive news storytelling and event news drama, but this strategy may affect the accuracy and depth of news. There is a phenomenon of "labeling" the elderly in the selection of narrative language, which has a negative impact on the image of the elderly. In the fourth chapter of the thesis, the author analyzes the narrative features of the Dahe Daily report. It can show that the aged report is represented in a more comprehensive, objective perspective. It is to expand the coverage of old age with flexible narrative time. There have been two special news phenomena such as "news literature" and "four season songs".The study found that there are four main problems in the narrative of the aged reporting of Dahe Daily.First of all,the boundaries between soft-text advertisements and news reports are not clear, and it is easy to mislead the elderly.Secondly,in the "Dahe Daily" the aged reporting, the elderly are "marginalized" by the media, and the elderly are "disordered;then, the old labeled affects the image of the elderly;finally,in the old report of Dahe Daily, there are few reports about the vital interests of the elderly, which cannot meet the needs of the elderly. In response to the problems in the elderly reports,it is proposed that the media should actively shoulder social responsibilities and pay attention to avoiding the adverse effects of commercialization;it should give more opportunities for the elderly to express themselves and listen to the voices of the elderly;the “labeled” the aged reporting should be vanished and strive to construct Positive image of the elderly;the needs of the elderly should be given more attention and the quality of the aged reporting should be improved. The study of the aged reporting of Dahe Daily with the perspectives of news narratology not only has a deep meaning for Dahe Daily, but also provides new perspectives and methods for newspapers of the same type in various provinces and cities, with a view to providing reference of the same type of urban newspaper for the elderly.
