Timing system is developed from the demand of missile and space experiment.With the rapid progress of the science and technology such as navigation, communication, electrical power, numerous projects and scientific fields need timing system. Timing system equipment are important in modern aerospace test shooting range and conventional weapon test shooting range,which send standard time signal and standard frequency signal to test equipments such as missiles,secondary planets and aircraft.In order to improve the backward state of PCI bus timing system equipment in China, it is presented a design program of Timing System by using PCI bus interface and CPLD technology based on the traditional time code card system adapting to user's new requirement. Combined with the actual demand, the specific design features and technical specifications are shown clearly. We also introduced the characteristics and the basic knowledge of IRIG-B code and CPLD technology. And in this paper the design process of the timing code card is comprehensively described from the aspects of hardware design, device driver design and application software design. And we focus on supporting hardware driver together with the corresponding upper layer application software. Finally, the research and test results are given.
