In recent years, most of China's aircraft companies have been in subcontracting cooperation with international aircraft manufacturers. However, differences between their corporate cultures and management philosophies led to some problems during the cooperation. The diversity of aero-engine components and the complexity of manufacturing processes require the use of job shop manufacturing, with such drawbacks as production planning or machine scheduling. Traditional manual organization cannot give enough consideration to production resources and implies not only a waste of productive resources, but also bottlenecks in production, hence hindering the products delivery. In addition, a rigorous quality control and traceability of aero-engine components require a large amount of data be collected, sorted and archived. This highlights the need for a computer-aided aero-engine subcontract production management system.First are introduced the status and development trend of computer-aided production management system. Lean production centered modern production management theories and their applications in aircraft industry are discussed, and the necessity of combining lean production and computer-aided management system is put forward. Critical issues during aero-engine components production management are discussed. Based on the subcontracting cooperation of Beijing Chang Kong Machinery Co., Ltd. and Turbomeca (Safran Group), the functional requirement of the management system is analyzed. An aero-engine production management system was established using a database management system - Access, whose functions include purchase order management, material management, machine capacity-load management, production planning and industrialization management etc. It can not only track subcontract production processes, but also forecast production cycle and production tasks. A simulation of Beijing Changkong subcontract production for the year 2011 was achieved, and the results provide a strong basis for production management decision-making.The production management system established in this paper can also be applied to other small job shop type subcontract manufacturing management.
