This thesis conducts an empirical research based on 125 reports about college-graduates village cadres which are selected from the People's Daily during 2005 and 2009.First of all, the paper exerts an overall review of college-graduate village cadres from the viewpoint of political communication, analyses the process of its system formation, and reveals their inestimable significance for themselves, the new rural construction as well as China's economical and social development. Then the paper combines quantitative and qualitative analysis and adopts the theory of journalism etc., and conducts an empirical study from the perspectives of from the number of reports, presentation style, the report genre, topic set and the geographical distribution of the object, based on the sample reports from the People's Daily from 2005 to 2009. To a further degree, the characteristics of such reports will be listed, such as the increasing quantity and intensity of report, its compliment and encouragement orientation in order to guide public opinion and so on. At last, some weak points will be observed, like its lack of faithfulness, the uneven distribution of coverage, and its pro-rigid tone. Besides, some suggestions to improve will be given with the will that The People's Daily could face bravely the problems of village cadre construction, and hopefully it could set up an objective and fair image for college-graduate village cadres with a detailed observation and an overall grasp.
