With the development of network and information technology, the requirement of national and individual security becomes more important and serious. Fast and accurate identification technique is need urgently. Biometric technology is a new identification method by using the knowledge of image processing and pattern recognition. It is based on human physical and behavioral characteristics. As one kind of biometric technology, iris recognition has the following features: uniquely, stability, friendly, and securely. Iris recognition can be used in many fields like finance, customhouse, coalmine, and so on. It has broad application prospects and can get good economic benefits.At present most of iris recognition products are based on personal computer, these products are usually very inconvenient and more expensive so that it is a serious impediment to the promotion of iris recognition. In this paper, an embedded iris recognition system will be presented, which is portable, stable, low-cost, low power consumption.In this thesis the following issues have been explored and realized:Ⅰ. Research the principles and algorithm of iris recognition, present a noise detect method: adopt gray-scale threshold method to detect facula and block-eyelashes; use real part of improved-Log-Gabor wavelet to detect the sparse-eyelashes; calculate the gradient integral along different angle arcs to detect the top eyelid and utilize radial symmetry to detect the bottom eyelid. Then, optimize the iris recognition algorithm and transplant the algorithm to the embedded Linux flat.Ⅱ. Hardware design: build an embedded hardware system, which can realize iris capture and access control. First, design iris capture module, keyboard module, and access control module based on OK2440; then, write drivers for each module.Ⅲ. Software design: design embedded iris software and pc access management system, they can communicate with each other. For embedded client, write the user interface program using Qt on Linux system. It can realize iris recognition, user management, system set, and so on. For pc client, the program is realized by C#, it can manage embedded machines remotely.Finally, we finish a simple embedded iris access system, which can control the access control region effectively. Furthermore, this system can be changed easily to realize other functions.
