Iris recognition is a new biometric identification technology, which is widely used today. Because of its uniqueness, reliability, and against artifice merits, iris recognition technology has been making fast development. Furthermore, it will be proved to widely apply. Therefore, how to develop an iris recognition system is the hot field.This paper proposes a new project on iris recognition system with one embedded kernel, which is the 32-bit floating-point Digital Signal Processors. It will be designed as one embedded platform for real-time image processing, which is composed of DSP, CPLD, USB, and CMOS Image Sensor. There are two part, hardware and software, of this platform. On the hardware part, there are six modular, the power modular, and the iris image capture system, the iris image processing modular, the system memory space, the LCD and Keyboard design, and the USB2.0 interface. On the software part, it is important to develop application program for CPLD, DSP, and USB. Otherwise, in this paper, it will introduce the feature of IC chips, the key point on PCB design, the importance of making Signal Integrity, and the usage of the IBIS modular. It will introduce the knowledge of I2C Bus Protocol, DSP/BIOS, USB2.0 Portocol, Windows Driver Model, DirverWorks, and INF.Therefore, the main work of this paper described as followed: On the hardware part, it takes charge of the schematic design of image sensor chip, power, CPLD, DSP, memory, and USB2.0 interface. Also it takes charge of PCB design and Signal Integrate., and the hardware debug.On the software part, it takes charge of the CMOS Image sensor configure code, the code of CPLD for image capturing, the embedded code for DSP operation, and the trilogy on USB development, which are the firmware, the dirver, and the application program.The embedded iris recognition system hardware platform and the software code have been developed successed. With high speed, high stability, small size, and lower power requirment, this system provides one well platform for iris recognition...
