Today, among various kinds of biometric technology, iris recognition has its own unique advantages. This technology has been developed in many fields, and it has been applied to the access system field.In the paper, according to the feature of iris, the characters of iris recognition technology are introduced, and the basic structure and its work principle of iris recognition system. From iris pretreatment (iris locating, standardization, image enhancement) to iris image characteristic extracting and pattern matching, Iris recognition algorithm is discussed in turn. In the process of iris location, morphological wavelets are introduced. Morphological wavelets transform is a combination of mathematical morphology and wavelet transform, it integrates fully morphology and tower analysis of wavelet, it can protect the iris image detail futures. In the paper, after original iris image is treated through the median filter, then using morphology Harr wavelet transform, at last iris inner edge is got. And experimental results are satisfactory.Starting from the iris recognition technology, it proposes the design program of access control system based on TMS320DM642 chip, which features convenient and open. The system design scheme is that acquiring iris image, pretreating the image, characteristic extracting and pattern matching, and then control door lock. Another, the mainly function modules of the system is described in details, include supply, memory expansion, iris image acquisition and processing, keyboard, LCD, door lock control, alarming and host communication. The system makes full use of fast processing speed and high precision of DM642 DSP, and software and hardware co-design is considered adequately.
