In China, the concept of e-government enjoys popular support gradually. The building of e-government which started from 1980s today has been made to the preliminary results. Many local government departments basically establish the corresponding facilities. With these foundations, our e-government construction has begun to enter a very critical period, from infrastructure to fully use of the period of profound change. Especially the 16th National Party Congress decided to strengthen e-governance as a basic national policy and wrote it into a new five-year plan. The e-governance will play a revolutionary role in the management of innovation and industrial information.Therefore, the establishment and improvement about the national e-government standards which adapt to the rapid development become China's current e-government construction of the primary task. Standardization of e-government, the infrastructure work, is an important means of supporting e-government building. It links up the various businesses organically, and gives the synergy between the works of technical guidelines. It is a premise of e-government systems to achieve interoperability, information sharing, operational coordination, safety and reliability.XML is the data formats and data exchange standard advanced by W3C. XML and its related technology solve the difficulties when building e-government, and also provide a new idea for e-government solutions. Bases on the study of e-government applications, this article focuses on the XML-based e-government data exchange architecture, technology and methods.The article first introduces the basic concepts of the e-government technical, then analysis of the domestic and international standardization of the development of e-government. Based on XML- data exchange technology and standards compliance testing technologies in the field of e-government, this article raises the issue of the purpose and significance of research, tests integration of e-government projects on telecommunications standardization of data compliance, and discusses the next step in the direction of research.
