With the development of virtual reality and artificial intelligence, virtual assembly attracts more attention by researcher. The data model and virtual environment is built to simulate the assembly process, which is used to evaluate the product and detect the product faults as early as possible. also the related-information can be feed back to designers to improve the design of product. At the same time, virtual assembly can be used to teach workers to help them master the assembly process quickly, in order to improve production efficiency. Through virtual assembly, we can shorten product design period, reduce the product design costs and improve the product's commercial competitive ability. This dissertation studied the key technology and implement methods of virtual assembly. The main contents of this paper are presented as follows:The paper analyzes the basic function of virtual assembly management system, brings up the structure of software and design the model database.The paper studies the key technology of virtual assembly. The main work included: It improves the Toleranced Hierachical Model on the foundation of the analysis of the common-used model, which integrates the assembly information with geometry information. It realizes the model information transformation from Pro/E to virtual environment. The virtual assembly scene graph is built In addition ,the paper detailedly recapitulate the method of organizing virtual assembly scene. It constructs the model lib. It researchs on the assembly simulation, presents the idea and flow chart of assembly simulation. It presents the arithmetic of collision detect on the basis of studying on collision detect. It focused on accurate part positioning in virtual environment. It proposed the assembly coordinate system method to achieve the accurate part positioning.Based on the above work, the paper develop a virtual assembly management system VAMS with VC and WTK. Then use a example to verify the basic function of software.
