Parameterized design is an important part of mechanics design. The parameterized design is a whole process from the analyses of function to the creation of parameterized models. Using parameterized design, the designer no need to draw models. Only change parameters can create different forms of drawings. Avoid of the same kind of parts design. Three dimensions parameterized design can create CNC need models and change to two dimensions engineering drawings. With parameterized design, the designers can be liberated from complicated repeated modeling, thus they can invest more time and effort to the project in virtual assembling, CNC process, and the analysis of force and movement simulation.CAD is an important link in the life of cycle of products, and is the key technology in the process of implementing CIMS. At present, CAD is developing towards the direction of facing product life cycle. Thinking of the assembly,manufacturing,inspect and so on, in the course of designing, in order to reduce problems as little as possible, which appear possibly in the future production, and shorten the period of designing, improving the efficiency of designing, strengthen the competition of product, this aspects must be considered. This paper has developed virtual assembly system under this background.Assembly design is an important stage in product design process, and it exerts significance influences on product's cost, quality and time-to-market. In the early of design, virtual assembly techniques will concern the problem about assembly and assembly cost and so on. Thus, virtual assembly can shorten the time and cost of design. Based on the UG software, this paper makes a deep research in virtual assembly's architecture, realization and key techniques. Main work of this paper was as follow:(1) On the one hand, taking VC++6.0 as a tool to design the interface and to calculate parameters, and ADO as a database technology, the parameters can be automatically loaded into UG; on the other hand, by using UG/OPEN API to realize the parameterized design of the models. In addition, the basic structure of virtual assembly process system was established based on parametric system.(2) Establish a reasonable structure of virtual assembly system and clarify the interrelation of each component by means of analyzing the information content of product assembly model which holds the whole product assembly information.(3) Establish the implement method of a part's 3D constrained movement based on movement freedom in virtual environment. Product a new algorithm of assembly sequences planning which has reduced the complexity and has solved the problem of large-scale assembly sequences generation.
