Cheng Shewo, one of the most famous newspapermen in the history of Chinese journalism, voiced that newspapers should be distributed to the interior and be more popular. The very values which Cheng Shewo held are:freedom of the press, public benefit and rising up through diligence and frugality. Cheng Shewo insisted that newspapers should be running by the people and for all the people. And for him, newspapers are important factors in a liberal democracy.This thesis tries to deal with the primary values of Cheng Shewo's newspapering ideas as well as the reason of his ideas in running newspapers. |
