WDM (Wavelength Division Multiplex) is an optical transmission technology, which makes different wavelengths optical signals transmit in one fiber simultaneously. It divides the fiber to several bands to transmit predetermined wavelength signals in each channel. The high density division is called DWDM (Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing), which provides a higher network capacity. ROADM is an important component in DWDM system, it is used to add or drop different wavelength signal by manual operations, makes the network more flexible and can be able to eliminate the high cost of system update.With the expansion of DWDM network, equipments of different manufacturers have been used, although the DWDM have its standards, there are still many ambiguous areas, which leads to the same equipments from different manufacturers can not be interconnected with each other. If a device needs to be changed, it can only be replaced from the same manufacturer.The work of author is aimed to solve this problem, to design and implement an Open Network Interconnection Platform, which includes three functions:one is doing research and analyses on the OSC (Optical Supervisory Channel) data of ROADM system to develop an adapter board. The board can be embedded into an equipment and make it know the meanings of management commands. The second is independent implementation of ROADM, which combines with the adapter card can replace the failure equipment directly. The author takes charge of the NMS (Network Management System) agent development. The third is implements the key management commands in graphical embedded management software on an ARM board, the important controls can be directly operated on the device with this board. All the three above constitute the ONIP, and have practical significance to improve the disaster recovery ability of DWDM networks.The dissertation briefly introduces the related principles of DWDM and ROADM technology, and then gives the detailed analysis process and final results.The main research includes:1. The principles and constructions of DWDM and ROADM are researched, and also the hardware architecture and system form.2. The OSC information is decoded, and the adapter software is accomplished and tested.3. Joined in the ROADM program and the NMS agent based on ARM platform is accomplished.4. The embedded network management is researched, and this feature has been developed and tested, also based on ARM platform.All the features of ONIP have passed the tests, it makes good significance to the network interconnect issue, the method of private protocol analysis, the design process of ROADM agent and embedded management software provide a good reference to the congener requirements.
