DWDM is a technology which different wavelengths are used to transmit multi-channel light signal in a fiber simultaneously. DWDM is a extended technology of WDM which support higher frequency width and frequency width density. Optical add-drop multiplexer(OADM) is one of the key node equipments of WDM optical network. OADM not only realizes the function of traditional ADM in the field of optical and has the transparency of the format and the signal rate, but also is one of the key technology to overcome the electronic bottle-neck in the node of traditional network. Further more, OADM can saving electric add-drop multiplexer, thus keep the optical network free from the deposit of a great lot of electricity switch equipment and terminal unit. With the come forth of kinds of new technologies and new services, the flexible and security of the net become more and more important. ROADM gets a wide attention because it can collocate the upward and downward optical channel dynamically, bring on more flexible and subsistence for optical network, and reduce the cost.On the basis of DWDM and ROADM technology, SNMP network management technology and network management software development knowledge, the author analyzes the management requirement of DWDM and ROADM equipment, and takes part in the design and development work of DWDM and ROADM EMS. Finally, the author tests the EMS, which has been done just for proving the functionality and stability of EMS.The paper briefly introduces the related principle of DWDM and ROADM technology at first, and then starts with the application of SNMP on DWDM equipment in order to propose the EMS design blue print. According to the equipment function and structure, the author also analyzes the layer structure and interface implement of the network management and the agent software in detail. During the process of the SNMP agent research for DWDM terminal equipment, the design and the implement of DNE module and SNMP encode and decode module are the emphasis of the paper. And they are helpful for the research of the other related projects.The main research includes:1. The related technology principle of DWDM and ROADM is researched, and so do the hardware architecture and system form of DWDM and ROADM equipment.2. The EMS design of DWDM equipment is accomplished, the software module of SNMP encode and decode and unit testing are realized, and the design and the implement of SNMP communication module of the network management software are accomplished.3. The network management configuration module design test and the acceptance are accomplished.
