As for the frequent occurrence of natural disasters (earthquakes, droughts, floods, etc) and man-made disasters (wars, etc), the strategic grain reserve has become a key issue concerning about people's livelihood. There are many problems with the current grain storage monitoring technology which lead to a lot of unnecessary losses. To achieve a better monitoring of the grain in storage, a wireless monitoring system based on ZigBee combing modern sensor technology and wireless network technology is designed in this paper. Through analysis of the current development of the granary monitoring system and research of the environment requirement during storage, the structural framework of the wireless monitoring system is brought forward in this paper based on the dispersity and locality features of domestic food storage. The system can conduct unified monitoring of the decentralized local granary effectively and achieve overall supervision of the overall food reserve condition. Overall design of the system is divided into three layers: the underlying data acquisition and control layer, the middle core layer and the upper user application layer. The underlying layer includes sensor data acquisition based on MCU and fan control, the temperature and humidity data is collected by sensors DS18B20 and SHT11 respectively and sent to the middle layer through wireless chip CC2430. The middle layer is the core based on S3C2410, mainly used to receive the bottom data and transport to the upper user layer through internet and to send the control command to the bottom layer through zigbee. The upper layer is the user operation layer which communicates with the middle layer through internet. By the upper layer PC application program, environmental parameters of the granaries are under effective monitoring and the control command is transmitted to the draught fan. The paper mainly includes hardware and software design of the system bottom layer, research of the zigbee technology and the IEEE802.15.4 standard transport protocol, network transmission of the middle layer and the upper application design. Through research in this paper, the concept of centralized monitoring of the granaries is proposed and technical requirement analysis is done. Dispersed collection, centralized monitoring and control of the granary data is realized effectively, playing a positive role in the development of granary monitoring system.
