In this paper, the main functions and features of the synthetic aperture radar (SAR) imaging are present. And we study hardware implementation of a SAR imaging system. Based on those functions and features, it describes a design of SAR imaging system. Firstly, we design a high-speed acquisition sub-board, which including a high-speed acquisition board based on AT84AD001B and a relatively low-speed acquisition board based on ADS5463, according to the acquisition theory and the overall demand. Then we collect the data and make a analysis of the result. Secondly, we design the signal storage and processing boards. On the memory-board, NAND FLASH is selected as the major memory chips, not only because of its high-speed reading ability, large capacity, and not easy to lose data when power off, but also of its capacity of redundancy correcting to improve data storage reliability. After the signal entering the signal processing board, two processors working in parallel under the coordination of the controller. They are independent, and have their own memory. The data link ports are used when the processor is loading or communicating. So this connection is quite simple, and the speed of data transmission is faster. Finally, we make the signal integrity analysis during the PCB design. We analyze the issues that may arise during the circuit board design briefly from the signal sequence, reflection, crosstalk, switching noise and so on, and make the corresponding simulation to improve system reliability, reduce the design cycle.
