Investigating On Business Information Services Of Provincial Public Libraries In China

Our provincial public library is not only to shoulder the responsibility of culture spread but also supporting local economic development. Enterprises play an important role in economic development. All over the worldwide, small and medium-sized enterprises accounts for most. However, owing to its scale, management and conditions, their ability is relatively weak in access to market information and trade information, the competition. They eagerly need helps from other information services departments. The local library should seize the opportunity and face the challenges to promote regional econdmic development.The paper uses literature search, internet survey, statistical analysis and comprehensive analysis to research our public libraries providing information services for enterprises. This study is composed of five parts. Firstly, it introduces the background, the meaning, the main contents, the method and the innovation points of this article. Secondly, it expound library services for enterprises on the basic theory, the status quo both abroad and at home, the information needs and characteristics of domestic small and medium-sized enterprises. Then, the third and fourth chapters are the core contents. The author designs a questionnaire and takes a survey online mainly from four aspects:information resources construct, business information services department, services content and services manners of the provincial public libraries. Then observe and analyses the results, finding some problems and weaknesses in the provincial public library business information services, suggesting from six areas to improve the enterprise information service of public libraries. Those six points are strengthening the construction of information resources, organizing and developing business enterprise competition information, cultivating professional information servicers, service innovation, the marketing of library information services and increase information sharing. Lastly is the summary, and the author gives the next plan.
