"Grey Literature Management System" For The Gap In The Undergraduate Thesis Management

With the rapid development of computer and network technology, it provides broad and convenient conditions for the release and exchange of information. Institutions, organizations, government departments and even individuals are able to publish their data, reports and papers using the Internet. The academic communication will be efficient and effective. At the same time, gray literature is rapid growth exponentially, it is becoming the most frontier theory and practice of future-oriented, and adapting to the environment, affecting the overall research and development. It also is a major component of our university development strategy.Through the application of such key technologies as.NET and distributed database, Grey literature Depositing Management System undergraduate thesis management was finally achieved. The system fulfills the following functions: Uploading and reviewing of papers, multi-user registration and management of rights allocation management, real-time information processing, paper blind trial management and defense management, electronic seal the module and publishing of papers. The system has been put into operation since May,2010. It is featured by great stability and good effect.In this project, such key technological products as.NET, distributed database were used in paper management system based on Web application. These key technologies are:1. using a combination of B/S and C/S hybrid structural model in the thesis management system to upload and review thesis, and the user information registration module using B/S, in order to enhance system availability; the allocation of user rights, the thesis defense management, electronic seals and other modules are using B/S to improve the security of the system; 2. Web Service used in the literature management system to make the system easy to expand; 3. Development of SMS Gateway enables students and instructors to achieve the timely communication, interaction, therefore instructors can achieve the timely information needed of students and improve the work efficiency; 4. Hardware and software encryption method is used to achieve the electronic document transmission on the network security; 5. Files and folders management is done on the NET to achieve the proper file storage. The system is currently in Ningxia Teachers College LAN testing system with great stability. It improves efficiency and achieves a smooth thesis collection, management and other operations completely changing from manual to automated business model. The project has been recognized and affirmed by school leaders and it is planned to be applied in the Local Area Network of Ningxia Teachers College LAN system in March,2011.
