The Long-term Preservation Of Digital Information

With the development of computer technology, network technology and digital technology, people have already accept the word "digitalization" abroad. Every side of human social have also been affected generally by digital information. Digital information with all kinds of forms and carriers exist abroad. Various researches about digital information began early. The research about long-term preservation of digital information (brief as "digital preservation" in back character) have carried through fierily. Especially in the library group and the correlative business organization of developed country, due to the digital information affection in developed country further than it in developing country, also the upper research demands can be supported, the research about digital preservation in the library group of the developed country have been very further and whole. Their all kinds of preservation projections have been spread fully. However, the whole and systemic and topic describe about digital preservation theory and practice haven't been appeared. The research of digital preservation setted up by country haven't also progressed. Contemporary, due to the low level of economic development, our country have not carried the research and design about the preservation frame system. So, I choose digital preservation as my paper's topic as to make the whole and systemic and topic study also make the former and macroscopical discuss and construct.Although the whole human life style and social development affected greatly by digital information and that the affection will be keep on prick up, the frailness of digital information caused its long-term preservation looks more important. However all kinds of factors, such as society, politics, economy, technology, law, etc,conditioned greatly the progress of the digital preservation. These obstacles make the digital preservation haven't to get satisfactory practices harvest even if in the developed country.Being cognizant of the importance of digital preservation, even if have to face many obstacles, the digital preservation projection have been implemented early in the developed country, such as the USA, Australia, the UK. Not only the national library but also the collegial library have been acquired many experiences and harvests. These practical preservation projects provide the experience and lecture for the large-scale and national-layer even international-layer digital preservation plan. There into, The PANDORA project of Australian national library and the NDI1PP project of the library of congress have quite influence.The staff and the information technique professional person work for the abroad library have been prior cognized of the essential and importance of digital preservation. So they processed long-term research about digital preservation. Mainly fastened on: collection of digital information, the storage of digital information, saving metadata, keep-take mechanism, right management, law issue and preservation technique etc. These research sometimes link the related preservation experiment projection. It have more strong pertinence and practice. Its research harvests were also very thoroughly and entirely and abundantly. Merely, just because of most these researches based on material preservation practice projection, the research content mainly focused on the microcosmic research in the side of technique, been short of the research of macroscopical and nation-layer preservation frame system.Obviously, the construction of frame system of digital preservation in one country is very difficult. It correlated tightly with the country's economic development and law level and social form. Even if in the developed country such as the USA and Australia still have not rounded and formal frame system even though they have advantaged consciousness of digital preservation and research level. But the deep influence of digital information and the level at present of digital preservation put the establishment of national preservation frame system can't delay and wait.So the target of this paper is to construct our country's frame system of digitalpreservation. This frame system was established by combining our country's developed level of politics, economy , law and combining our country area position's characters. It have strong adaptability and practicability and realism.The research and practice of digital preservation changes constantly along with the movement of information technique and social environment. The development of information technique brings the advantage and support for digital preservation. Contemporarily, it set up more barrier and lodged more challenge. The change of Social environment, such as the change of national policy and rule of law will affect to carry long-term digital preservation.
