As human society enters the era of digital knowledge economy,governments, institutions and individuals dependent on digital information enhance day by day. The digital information long-term preservation has great significance for revealing the mysteries of science and found and sustainable development of human civilization. It is estimated that the world created upwards of 161 exabytes (161 billion gigabytes) of information in 2006 and by 2010, digital information will increase in production by more than six fold to a staggering 988 exabytes per year. Due to various reasons there are a lot of cases that about permanent loss of the digital information. Faced with such large amount of information as well as ensure its long-term complete, reliable and authentic into the future so that we must have ready, have strategies to deal with this challenge. Long-term preservation of digital information has been researching and becoming a hot issue. There are some tentative explorations in The United States, Australia, the United Kingdom and other developed countries early in the last century And obtained much valuable experience and achievements, due to the national different situation, resulting in long-term preservation of digital information theory and practice have not reached a perfectly framework to effectively address this problem, on which there are still many aspects for further in-depth study.From a macro perspective this dissertation not only gives a more comprehensive analysis and absorb about the factors, for example, policy, technical, economical, legal, etc, of digital information long-term preservation in foreign country but also gives constructive strategy that suit to China's digital information long-term preservation development based on conditions in china.
