As we all known, the situation of stronger in the west and weaker in the east remains unchanged in the field of International Communication. The west's intention of capitalizing China has never been loosened up by making full use of International Public Opinion. The overall International Public Opinion on China bears no good to China. Meanwhile, the International Communication Undertaking in China although has made a great achievement, its effectiveness has been far from being desirable. With China's entry to the World Trade Organization the Chinese International Communication is facing up to the treaurable opportunities and the tough challenges. Therefore, the mission of the Chinese English-language Medias in mainland, which assume the responsibility for cultivating and maintaining the National Image, creating a favorable environment for the International Public Opinion on China, has become tougher and much more significant. At the same time editorial has been regarded as the soul of newspaper. Accordingly the thesis mainly discusses about the differences of the editorial pages between the main Chinese English-language daily newspaper in mainland and the main American daily newspaper aiming at improving the effectiveness of the International Communication in China. Content Analysis and comparison as well as the quantitative analysis and the qualitative analysis are exerted in the process of the research. The article also deeply analyzes the reasons resulting in the differences mentioned above, such as the historical background and the culture. Both the measures of improving the current editorial pages and the prediction of the developing trend of the main Chinese English-language daily newspaper in mainland are proposed.The thesis points out that the main Chinese English-language daily newspaper in mainland will stick to the principles of the party newspaper and will further function the Media Diplomacy. It also suggests the changes in such kind of newspaper, which is intentionally borrowing some editorial patterns and skills from the foreign newspaper. With the economic globalization the conflicts of the editorial pages between the main Chinese English-language daily newspaper in mainland and the main American daily newspaper will turn to hybrid. The main Chinese English-language daily newspaper will try to keep track of the international practice while clinging to the tenets of the Chinese Communist in order to win the audiences in the internationalmedia market full of severer competition.Although the thesis only researches in the editorial pages, it is able to reflect the general pictures of the other pages. The discoveries and the proposals of such research are valuable to all the pages of the newspaper and will facilitate the effectiveness of the whole Chinese English-language Medias.
