VXIbus-based virtual instrument test system has been become the mainstream of auto-test system, which represents developing direction of today testing technology. The Arbitrary Waveform Generator (AWG) VXIbus Module is one of the most common used modules that construct the auto-test system, which applied to the advanced testing field. The research will significantly promote development and application of VXI technology in China. This paper gave the contrast between domestic products and overseas products on performance. This paper discussed generating theory of arbitrary wave, brought forward integer project, designed generating circuit of wave, and researched signal condition circuit according to the direct digital synthesis technology and the analysis of arbitrary waveform generating circuit and VXIbus interface circuit. The driver and soft panel are designed by use of LabWindows/CVI, which has wonderful interface and operational performance. The register-based module has some features as follows: generates two-channel, 100MHz sampling rate wave; with frequency and phase modulation capability; the two signals can synchronize when their frequencies are integral rate; high phase resolution; all kinds of amplitude modulation capability if one signal is carrier wave and the other is modulation wave; phase adjust of modules in a mainframe. It has great advantage in measurement and application of vectors. The functions generating two channels arbitrary waveform expand application of the module. The module has advantage of lower cost comparing with overseas comparative product. It can improve the development of VXIbus-based AWG, meet the domestic demand, expand export, and improve the occupation rate of market.
