X microprocessor is a high performance general-purpose processor. It is a full-custom design in 0.18 microm CMOS technology. It contains 4.5 millions transistors. For such a complex and full-custom designed processor, its timing verification is a very challenging work.The author has researched into timing verificatidn technique of full-custom designed microprocessor in VDSM technology, and present a timing verification process that is suitable for X microprocessor; researched into timing model generation approach of variable cells, achieved generating timing model of more than 5000 cells in X microprocessor.Based on the timing model generating method presented in this paper, we developed two CAD tools, one of them is CapCal, which can calculate the capacitor value of cell's pin, the value is very important in cell's timing model; another is LibMake, which can deal the data of timing model and construct timing model library automated.According to the timing verification process in this paper, employing the tools, we have carried out timing analysis experiment of some typical module in X microprocessor. It is indicated by the results that the process is feasible and the tools are efficient and practical.
