Research On Grid-enabled Web Expert System

Grid is a kind of new technique about resource sharing. It offers an integrated information platform for users that is based on an existent infrastructure of Internet, protocols, Web and database techniques. It aims to construct a next generation information resource sharing platform and software development infrastructure building on OS and Web. With the development of Grid research, the signification of Grid application research becomes more and more important. Currently, Grid application mainly concentrates on Computational Grid, Data Grid, Semantic Grid, Information Grid, Knowledge Grid, Service Grid and Equipment Grid, etc.For the applications of Grid, this paper discusses the problems about the integration of the Web expert system service and the resource sharing of the knowledge database under the OGSA (Open Grid Services Architecture). Then, we build an application Grid system (Expert System Grid) and it expounds the method is feasible. Main work in this thesis:(1) design a Grid architecture model for the expert system resource sharing.(2) design an information model building on the environment of the Expert System Grid. It constructs a hierachical and abstract information model that can provide a uniform resource information management function interface and views based on the knowledge database in the whole Grid.(3) Using the Web Grid portal, the users can browse all Grid resources and services in a virtual space. Thus, the users can also access the expert system resource in the whole Grid by the Web Grid portal.(4) The data exchange and presentation standards between each expert system node are proposed. Because the presentation logic and data logic of each expert system is not consistent, it adopts XML technology to provide a uniform data presentation on the Grid interface. Each node offers the data based on XML to Grid OS by which the presentation logic of data is disposed. According to the different application purposes, the different communication services are supplied. These services include the reliable peer-to-peer and group multicast communication protocols that support most Internet communication protocols.
