| With the rapid increase of Internet and the gradually depleting of IPv4 address, Internet is confronted with many challenges: the scale, the security,the QoS,the simple configureation etc. These challenges show the new internet protocol version will replace IPv4 necessarily. IPv6 is the next internet protocol, the new characters of IPv6 will provide more perfect support and wider foreground for the application and development of the next generation network. Yet it must be improved and the transition from IPv4 to IPv6 will require a long time as well as different transition strategy aims at different network structures.To understand the smooth transiton from IPv4 to IPv6, to improve IPv6 protocol.to implement IPv6 network application widely,a IPv6 experiment network is necessary to be established. After gaining enough experiment in experiential network, then spread of out. One important aim of this paper is to establish the school IPv6 test bed, and configure tunnel to the CERNET's 6test bed. By the tunnel, the shool's IPv6 useres can connect with 6bone.This paper first introduces the IPv6 protocols, including the new characteristics of IPv6, the IPv6's message structure and the contrast with IPv4, the IPv6 addressing architecture,the IPv6 internet control message protocol,the communication of IPv6 unicast data, the IPv6 route protocol.the security mechanism, etc. And introduce the transition mechanism.Follw,carries a series of IPv6 experiments on school's IPv4 network structure.The experiments are concerned v/ith all kinds of protocols,IPv6 singIe-stack,IPv4/IPv6 dual-stack,host,tunnel and route used in defferent network equipment and network environment. And the achievement of IPv6 router is based on Linux operating system and Zebra.Finally, designs a new IPv4/lPv6 network structure based on tunnel and dual-stack for achieving the transition from IPv4 to IPv6. And such as WWW,FTP,DNS and Firewall etc. services which support IPv6 protocol have been realized under Linux operating system. |
