Compared with IPv4protocol, IPv6has many incomparable advantages. Using IPv6protocol in next generation Internet (NGI) and next generation network (NGN) has become aconsensus of the industry. Because of the incompatible between IPv4and IPv6, some reasonsabout network application have affected the course of IPv6transition. So the research of IPv6transition key technology is a urgent need. Looking for the right way and realization methodin order to solve the problems in the process of IPv6transition.The related technologies of IPv6transition are researched in this paper. The workingprinciple of three transition technologies is analyzed in detail. Based on the deep researchingof the ISATAP tunnel technology and IVI translation technology, the overall framework ofISATAP dual-stack system structure is designed. The function modules and implementationfunction of ISATAP tunnel are designed and achieved. Then the overall framework of IVItranslation gateway is designed. The function modules and implementation function of IVItranslation gateway are designed and achieved. Finally, ISATAP tunnel and IVI translationgateway are tested and analyzed through experiment.(1)The limitations of IPv4are researched, and the production, advantages andtechnology characteristics of IPv6is researched in depth. It is Focusing on a detailed analysisof the working principle of three transition technologies, including dual stack technology,tunnel technology and translation technology.(2)The ISATAP tunnel technology is researched, including address format, workingprinciple and neighbor discovery mechanism of ISATAP. The IVI translation technology isresearched, including address format, routing, and working principle of IVI.(3)The new overall framework of ISATAP dual-stack system structure is designed.ISATAP dual-stack system adds three ISATAP tunnel function modules, namely ISATAPtunnel receive module, ISATAP tunnel send module and ISATAP tunnel process module.(4)The function modules and implementation function of ISATAP tunnel are designedand achieved by programming in detail. The ISATAP tunnel receive module is responsible forthe parsing and processing of the received packets. The ISATAP tunnel send module isresponsible for the parsing and processing of the packets needing to send. The ISATAP tunnelprocess module is responsible for the encapsulation and decapsulation of packets.(5)The new overall framework of IVI translation gateway is designed. IVI translationgateway mainly composes of four function modules, namely IVI system control module, IVI DNS module, IVI address translation module and IVI protocol translation module.(6)The function modules and implementation function of IVI translation gateway aredesigned and achieved by programming in detail. The IVI system control module isresponsible for the controlling of IVI translation gateway system. The IVI DNS module isresponsible for the DNS translation between IPv4network and IPv6network. The IVI addresstranslation module is responsible for the translation between IPv4address and IPv6address.The IVI protocol translation module is responsible for the translation between IPv4protocoland IPv6protocol.Currently, many IPv6transition technologies are not yet fully mature. The relevantdocuments about overall framework, function module and implementation function design ofISATAP tunnel and IVI gateway is little. Based on the ISATAP tunnel technology and IVItranslation technology, the overall framework of ISATAP tunnel and IVI gateway is a newdesign. Designed and achieved a new function modules and implementation function ofISATAP tunnel and IVI gateway in detail. The content of research belongs to the keytechnology of IPv6transition.The ISATAP tunnel and IVI gateway designed and achieved in this paper is feasible, andcan effectively solve the communication problems between IPv4network and IPv6networkin the IPv4/IPv6transition period. It will provide a certain application and reference value forthe future research of IPv6transition technology in the IPv4/IPv6transition period.
