The wetland is the richest landscape in zoology variety and one of the most important environment resources for human. It plays a role in supplying the water resource, meaning the flood, modulating the climate and protecting the variety of life forms. So the wetland is honored as "the kidney of nature". For protecting the wetland besides constructing the legislative system, it is necessary to form the scientific method. The main study object in this article is Songnen Plain Wetlands. The wetland database is constructed and GIS technology is used to investigate and analyze the wetland resource, which promotes the efficiency and the accuracy and provides advanced scientific management and effective decision-making information for wetland resource.According to the characteristic of wetland that includes more and complicated geographic information, Songnen Wetland Geodatabase data model is designed in this study. It is introduced that the method of combining Geodatabase with ArcSDE technology to build GIS database, moreover, it is explained detailedly how to realize integration of spatial data and attribute data. Aiming at the shortcoming of this method in application, attribute data is classified and relationship coding is defined, which ensures integrality of data and share of data and reduces the data redundancy.Based on COM technology, the whole framework of Wetland Information System is designed in this paper. The system is composed of three subsystems: map processing and analysis subsystem, special query and statistic subsystem, assistant management subsystem. The three parts can be divided into 16 function modules which are designed and realized in detail. After the design, Visual Basic + ArcObjects technology and ADO data access technology are used to develop the information system. A series of GIS functions are realized and the functions of spatial analysis are provided, such as incidence analysis and overlap analysis. Particularly special query and statistic subsystem realizes the functions of query, statistic and analysis for wetland, water quality, river, flood, lake, and reservoir information. Through the visual analysis of map and attribute, helpful information can be provided for the management of wetland.
