With the development of communication system, the communication power supply system's capacity is bigger and its structure is more complex. The communication power supply system's reliability is very important to keep the communication system operating steadily. In order to enhance the reliability of power supply system, it's very important to monitoring the operation of power system besides of improving the power supply system. Now the power supply monitoring system is divided into 3 levels: the field level, the area level and the city level. Thus the maintain efficiency is higher. In field level, the monitoring system use monitoring nodes to monitor the power supply system and environment variables. At the same time, the monitoring center can send control information to every node to control power supply system's operation too. Now, monitoring nodes usually adopt RS485 serial bus to communicate with computers in field. But RS485 bus has some problems. Its baud rate is low. It's difficult to realize free communications among all nodes and the network's installation is complex. Otherwise, RS485 bus can't connect with computer directly except for transferring the protocol. In this thesis, a communication power supply monitoring system bases on Ethernet is proposed. Ethernet bus has high baud rate, such as 10Mbps and 100Mbps. It has long communication distance for example the maximum distance between every node and hub or switching is 100m. The monitoring node can communicate with computer without transferring the protocol. The installation is very simple too with the special connector. This thesis analyses how to realize low cost Ethernet communication. The hardware interface circuit is described. The uC/OS-II embedded real time kernel is transplanted and two software methods about communication are also given in the thesis. At the end of this thesis, an actual system made up of with 8031 single-chip microprocessor and RTL8019AS network interface IC is built. The test realizes the high -speed data collection and communication successfully. It proves that the system based on Ethernet bus is feasible.
