| At present, Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) is widely applied in the modern communication, network and packet product. LCD panel is the main-current display device because its characteristics of low-power consumption, high-resolution support, no radiation and steady image display. With the large-range applications of LCD, the development of the ICs which drive and control varied LCDs has a rapid progress.With the main-current IC product process goes into deep sub-micron, a lot of new design flows arise accompanied with varied IC design tools, especially in the physical application of the back-end design which faces more and more challenges such as: lower consumption, higher work clock speed, smaller die size and shorter tape-out time limit. This paper is based on the design of LCD controller which is applied in small and medium size display, discusses the basic characteristic of the development trend of physical application, introduces the main-current flow and the design tools of P&R in sub-micron process, and how to avoid and fix some physical effects is also introduced. After discussing the basic theories in physical design field, some auctorial conclusions about three fields will be drew from the experience of the physical design of LCD controller design. Design planning is the first issue, which is one of the primary factors of a successful Layout application. Secondly, clock tree synthesis is discussed, which is the key to get a timing closure result. At last, antenna effect and crosstalk effect are introduced, which badly influenced the function and property of the chip with deep sub-micron process.This project uses a 0.18μm process flow, and Astro of Synopsys is used to do place and route, StarRCXT to do parasitic extract, then Calibre of Mentor is used to do physical verification. All of these issues are introduced in this paper in brief. |
